Interschools Music Festival 2021 – Cancelled due to COVID-19

It is with great disappointment that we have to inform you that the Interschools Music Festival will not be able to take place this academic year. We were incredibly lucky to be able to host the festival last March just before the impact of COVID-19 took full effect.

The structure of Interschools Music Festival consists of 56 different musical competitions taking place in Wesley College over two days. This time and space limitation and the number of competitions involved make planning a festival for 2021 nearly impossible.

As you can imagine alongside the issues for choral singing, wind, brass and ensemble playing, inviting any large number of people onto the school campus at the moment would prove very problematic. We cannot risk the health of the Wesley community who are so supportive and hard working at the festival every year.

We are also aware that many schools are having huge difficulties maintaining any form of extra-curricular music and would therefore be unable to take part.

For all these reasons, the decision has finally been made to not run the festival this year. We will, however, be back with gusto in 2022. We look forward to seeing and hearing lots of music from you all then.
